Sanding rough spots when painting walls |
|
- Sand between coats. This doesn't take long - just wipe the wall down with a piece of 120- grit paper, and then brush off the dust with your hand or an old paintbrush. If your sanding, the wall will become smooth. If you don't sand, the wall will be rough.

Choosing the Faucet and Filler |
|
- Every tub needs a faucet, and selecting one that compliments your new bathroom's style and color scheme will serve to increase the depth and richness of your bath space.
- Take the time to shop around. There are many options available.
- If possible, try to find a series that also includes the faucet for your lavatory sink. That way the room will have continuity and the hardware will flow seamlessly throughout the room.
- Another option for aesthetics is to simply buy new face plates, a new spout and new handles.

6 earthy ways to clean your home |
|
- Vinegar removes mildew, stains, and wax buildup. Use it to clean coffeepots, glass, paintbrushes, grout, windows and fireplaces.
- Pure Soap cleans everything from dishes to cars.
- Baking Soda the all-around champion. Baking soda cleans, deodorizes, scours, polishes, removes stains, and softens fabrics. Use it on plastic, vinyl, carpeting, and upholstery, on silver and stainless steel, inside refrigerators or down drains.
- Borax cleans wallpaper, painted walls, and floors. It deodorizes, removes stains and boosts the cleaning power of your detergents.
- Washing Soda cleans clothing and softens water. But it is moderately toxic. Wear gloves and use it in well-ventilated areas to avoid irritation of mucous membranes.
- Ammonia ? a hard working liquid, cleans carpets and linoleum, copper and enamel and most appliances. Ammonia can irritate the skin and the eyes, so wear gloves and use it in a well-ventilated area. Never mix it with chlorine bleach; the mixture creates a poisonous gas.

Maintenance & Repair |
Choosing a Tub for your Home |
|
- Standard Tub These will last longer than your house will. A less expensive tub option that has recently become more popular is made of acrylic and is very lightweight. The real downside of these tubs is that they scratch easily and if it should crack, the repaired spot will show.
- Whirlpool: Seek to upgrade, and not just replace. There are many options available that include a soft bubbling type of tub, a powerful jet driven tub and every possible combination in between. Another benefit that is gained by adding a whirlpool style tub is found in the addition of resale value to your home.
- Tub and Shower Combo: Fiberglass stalls are used when a shower is to be incorporated into the bath space. Probably the most common style, a large fiberglass mold is set in place around a tub to create a unit that is versatile and family friendly.

Patio furniture cleaning tips |
|
|
Plastic Furniture: Wipe heavy grime off first with a clean wet cloth. Follow by spraying with germ-fighting solution like Mr. Clean Antibacterial Multi-Surfaces Cleaner, as directed on the label. Rinse thoroughly with water from your garden hose. Also keep it clean throughout the season with Mr. Clean Antibacterial Multi-Surfaces Spray. Wicker Furniture: Scrub gently with a soft scrub brush dampened with an oil-based soap solution. Rinse by hosing down. Maintain by hosing down periodically to prevent dirt from lodging in the crevices. Prevent erosion from rain with vinyl covers. Wrought-Iron Furniture: Wash with a clean cloth dampened with a mixture of water and a mild dishwashing detergent, such as Ivory. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose. To remove rust, lightly sand the affected area, wipe with a clean cloth, and then apply matching, wrought iron paint. Teak Furniture: As with wicker, use a soft scrub brush dampened with water and a mild oil-based soap. Rinse with a garden hose. |
